On Sunday the 21st July, Flinders Petanque Club hosted a Player Development Day. Organised with Victorian Coach, Patrick Dufresne, the day included players from Flinders, Red Hill, Portsea and St Andrews Beach Clubs.
Patrick had arranged a day of coaching and rules instruction. He had arranged support from Andre Deramond and Danny Green who conducted sessions explaining the finer points of rules to the players in attendance. Patrick's coaching sessions were supported by Warren Sowter, the Director of Coaching.
The players welcomed the opportunity to learn about some basic playing skills including pointing and shooting. Patrick had arrange
d a number of basic exercises to enable the players to practise the skills. The coaching was followed by some games to practise the skills.
The clubs were provided with copies of the PFA Players Training Manual, the PFA Development Awards Program, and the PFA Skill Development Program. These manuals are available on the Player Development website.
The day was well supported by the players and its success is a credit to Patrick and his commitment to helping clubs and other players. Thanks to John Grigg and John Righetti and their club members for their hospitality.
